A Great Headshot, Why Bother?
Because "You never get a second chance to make a first impression"
Let's be honest. Be it a Linkedin profile, Website, Bio or CV., a profile image is the first thing you look at. Period. It is what it is. Human nature. Does that mean that you you have to be one of the "beautiful people" in order to post your image. Absolutely not!! But the care you put into the presentation of your picture should match the effort you put into the rest of the information you want your readers to consume. Be professional. Use a professional photographer. Make sure you look your best and put forth your best image. It's that simple.

Portrait Photography
"Hi Bart, I wanted to let you know Mom passed away October 1st. The pictures you have taken are even more precious. The beautiful portrait from her 90th birthday is a treasure. Thank you for giving the family all these priceless memories."
I've been doing this awhile. Well over 30 years. I think the quality of the images speak for themselves but what you don't see is the story behind them. As an artist, I'm never satisfied. I always find something I would change in an image. But when I go back through my work, sometimes years later, I find a warm satisfaction and meaning in the work I produce. Today I may be photographing a child who's mother I photographed when they were the same age. So many times, when speaking with clients and looking at the portraits I produced for them, they share with me the stories of the family members in the images. Some no longer with us. Quality portraiture is something you purchase not just for yourself, but for your children and generations to come.
